My time as a volunteer at Antelope Park was one of those experiences that truly changed my life. Living and growing up in Africa I was hesitant about the kind of experience I’d have, but I can say that you really do get a TRUE AUTHENTIC African experience.
Cantering through the bush while the African sun rises on the horizon, camping under the stars and telling stories around the fire then waking up to a heard of Zebra drinking from the dam, getting first-hand experience in Zebra darting and relocation, getting to help and make a difference in the surrounding communities, swimming with horses, game drives, playing polo cross with a heard of impala, giraffe’s and elephants in the distance are all just a small percentage of the life-changing moments I had as a volunteer.
Once I left, the bug bit, so much so that I came back to take on a more permanent role. I’ve made lifelong friends along with the whole Antelope Park team who have become family.
My Zim adventure, with the help of Antelope Park and Volunteer Encounter, has been the highlight of my year and I’m forever grateful for the moments and connections I’ve made here.
