ROCKY RANCH STABLES
Where Wild Rides Meet Real Impact
Volunteering for the ROCKY RANCH STABLES Project
Rocky Ranch Stables isn’t your typical safari – it’s a riding journey into the heart of Zimbabwe’s wilderness. Set on a 50,000-acre, family-run ranch in the country’s south, Rocky Ranch Stables offers a raw, authentic experience where nature leads the rhythm. Whether you’re riding alongside giraffe, herding cattle, or simply enjoying an outside dinner, every moment connects you to the land, the animals, and the people. This is adventure with meaning, where your presence directly contributes to conservation, community, and legacy.

Overview of the Rocky Ranch Stables project
Rocky Ranch Stables is designed for people who love horses, the outdoors, and intentional travel. You’ll spend your days riding across the farm – usually 2-4 hours a day – grooming, training, and building bonds with the horses. Outside the stables, there’s a rich mix of wildlife encounters, nature walks, cultural exchanges, and conservation efforts.
The experience is flexible and rooted in “African Time” – days unfold naturally, shaped by the environment. Mornings may involve grooming horses or cattle herding, while afternoons could mean tracking wildlife, visiting schools, or paddling along the river. Whether you’re helping out around the farm or winding down by the fire, every day is personal and we guarantee amazing.
On top of that...
The stables run year-round. From the lush, green summer to the dry golden winter, each season offers its own charm – April to September being best for long outrides and wildlife sightings.
