Overview of the Polo Safari Stables Project
This project promises to be the experience of a lifetime! You’ll have the chance to work alongside top polo professionals while caring for and maintaining the fitness of these exceptional polo ponies. Not only will you be involved in their daily upkeep, but you’ll also have the opportunity to hone your own polo skills in an environment rich with potential and excitement. This project allows you to visit international polo matches and experience Africa. You don’t need to have any polo experience, but you need to be a confident and advanced rider to enjoy this incredible project.
Polo, known as the “sport of kings,” is played in over 80 countries. Set in one of Zimbabwe’s most breathtaking locations, this project combines the thrill of this sport with the opportunity to encounter some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife—all while playing polo in a truly unforgettable setting.
Project Highlights
Daily trotting of the polo ponies along 4km of track within the private game reserve. This gives the opportunity to also see many different types of game.
Lunging and schooling of the Polo ponies, this will help maintain their fitness for their polo matches.
Stick and ball sessions in the area and on one of the most beautiful polo fields in Africa.
Have the opportunity to be taught by Jono Passaportis, who has played polo all in life and spent time in Argentina playing the game. He has also represented Zimbabwe on the field and was the past chairman of Zimbabwe polo club. He currently is a National Selector, National Handicapper and a member of the Governing Council.
Mounted boundary patrols to help assist with the anti-poaching initiatives, as well as game counts.
Gymkhana, Western games and Horse swims.
Club Chukkas in the area or on the renowned polo field.
Attend polo matches and tournaments throughout the season to
The opportunity for cross country schooling and attending local evening competitions.
Encounter incredible wildlife such as Giraffe, Kudu, Sable, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Monkeys, Zebras and much much more!

The Bushman Rock Private Vineyard and Equine Estate, nestled within a game reserve just outside of Harare the capital. It offers unparalleled polo facilities amidst breathtaking natural beauty. Renowned for its picturesque vineyards and captivating landscapes, Bushman Rock has really is just amazing.

At Bushman Rock, you will stay in lodge-style accommodations that blend luxury with a comfortable, volunteer-friendly atmosphere. Each room, designed to offer a touch of elegance while maintaining a relaxed, communal vibe, will host between 4 to 6 people per room. These charming lodges are nestled in the heart of the African bush, providing a unique and experience amidst the stunning natural surroundings of the game park.
