Community & Teaching

Make a difference to local communities at Antelope Park, Zimbabwe

Community & Teaching

Uplifting communities starts in schools – where children are given magical keys of knowledge and skills that can change their lives. In under resourced communities education can be a challenge and teachers are often overwhelmed by large numbers of students and limited teaching material.

Antelope Park has a strong partnership with underprivileged schools in the surrounding communities. You will play a critical role in helping them flourish with Classroom Support and Extra Mural activities. Our School Conservation Programmes build towards future generations championing wildlife conservation in their local areas.

Overview of Community Teaching Project

The dedicated support system provided by Volunteer Encounter is fundamental to helping children meet the school requirements. Our partner schools are under-staffed and rely on you to help in the classrooms, providing much needed one-on-one for children who need it. After school fun activities, games and clubs help them grow in confidence and creativity. Positive role models have a huge impact on their development and give them insight into a world different to their own.

And when community development and conservation meet together you can hear the heartbeat of Volunteer Encounter! Our vision is that local communities are the custodians of their wildlife areas, protecting animals and benefitting from tourist activities, that they are the ones who champion conservation efforts into future generations.

Our community participants have the joy of opening up the magic of conservation to students and watching their worlds expand.  You will work with communities to educate them on meeting the challenges of living alongside wildlife, including dangerous predators. Education is key in overcoming problems and working towards solutions of mutually beneficial co-existence.

Your assistance in this project is fundamental as you expand the pupils understanding of conservation and highlight the role they can play in it.

Helping teachers and students, one at a time!
