At Bushman Rock, you will stay in lodge-style accommodations that blend luxury with a comfortable, volunteer-friendly atmosphere.
Each room, designed to offer a touch of elegance while maintaining a relaxed, communal vibe, will host between 4 to 6 people per room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still come if I have never played polo?
YES! This project welcomes all abilities of polo experience. We do require you to be confident riders in walk, trot and canter but the ability to play polo we require no experience.
How do I get to Bushman Rock?
You will fly into the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare. You will then be collected by one of our drivers and taken to Bushman Rock which is approx an hours drive.
What is the currency in Zimbabwe?
In Zimbabwe we recommend brining US dollars. They must be no older than 2018. We also recommend brining lots of small notes as the there is little change in Zimbabwe.
What riding ability do I need to be?
We recommend for this project that your confident in walk, trot and canter. As well as being comfortable to ride a mixed variety of horses with all levels of experience. This project will not except novice or beginner riders.
Volunteering Safety Tips
- Avoid travelling alone, especially at night.
- Ensure that excessive amounts of cash are left in safe boxes, not lying around in plain sight.
- Do not carry excessive amounts of cash on you
- If you are taking a taxi anywhere, make sure you book it in advance through a trusted and reliable driver.
- Avoid wandering down dark streets, even in large groups.
- Be aware and alert at bars and ATMs. Do not leave your drink unattended at any time. If you drink has been left out of your sight, discard it. Be watchful at ATM’s and try not to withdraw large amounts of cash at one time.
- Do not enter township areas without being accompanied by one of our local staff members.
- Be wary of people who seem too friendly too fast.
- Avoid leaving your personal items like bags or mobile phones unattended.
- Do not share personal information with anyone under any circumstances.
- Save your project manager’s number on your phone and make sure to provide us with a copy of your emergency contact person at home.
Zimbabwe Vaccinations
Bushman Rock is NOT a malaria risk area. However, if you visit some areas in Zimbabwe such as Victoria Falls you will be entering an area with malaria, so you may wish to take anti-malaria tables 48hours in advance. Ask your doctors to prescribe the best ones available. We do not recommend Larium (sometimes known to cause hallucinations) nor Doxycycline (many people have bad reactions to the sun when using it)
Yellow Fever: Zimbabwe is NOT at risk to yellow fever. You only require a yellow fever certificate if you are arriving from a yellow-fever-infected area.
